When he first decided to play professional football, Matheus Seto Nurdiantoro never dreamed of becoming a national player and getting famous. Understandably so, as he started his career in a small, outcast team in Kalasan, Yogyakarta.

Seto Nurdiyantoro was once an eternal sub. PS Kalasan, his first team, was considered to be far from the eyes of the scouts or national football education and training program. He and his older brothers only played in PSS Sleman's local competitions from 1989 to 1994. Some of their careers ended there. But Seto didn't give up. As his fate turned, he was started to be recognized by local scouts. Seto was selected to play for PSIM in Indonesian League I frmo many other players. "Even then it was already the second round and I only joined for three months. After that, PSIM got relegated," Seto told.

Fortunately, Pelita was there to witness his performance. A turning point in his career was just about to begin. However, to get a first-team place in the metropolis team was not easy at all. When he first joined Pelita, he had to compete with many Pimavera stars who started to come back home from Italy. His self-confidence was shaken. He felt like an eternal sub when Kurniawan Dwi yulianto was flying high. But he never gave up and worked hard to improve himself and be able to compete with his friends from Primavera.

His efforts would only pay off four seasons later, in LI VI, when he scored 10 times in the league. Ordered to replace Kurniawan's position in the front, Seto did his job well. Because of this, he was called to the Red-and-White national team. "It's not easy to get into the national squad. I had to compete really hard and was tested twice before selected," he said.

About positions, he didn't complain when he was taken out of the penalty box. Nandar Iskandar put him in the midfield. "It doesn't matter to me. Those two are my favorite positions, and I like it when I play second striker."

Now that his position in the national squad has been well-earned, offers from big clubs like Persija and Persebaya start to pur in. But Seto confesses that he's not a bit taken by any of the offer. "I owe something to Pelita. And more than that, this career is not only for today, but also for my future," he revealed. It's an understandable will from a player who really had to crawl from the bottom to fight for the first-place, and finally earned it.
