FIFA has announced its list of top Asian teams. The leader surprisingly is still Saudi Arabia, ranked 25th in the world. This is the highest level an Asian team has reached since Japan made it to rank 11 early in 1998.

The rest of Asia is clearly behind with Iran, Korea and Japan rounding off the top 45 teams of the world. However, it must be stated that the Koreans and Japanese have not had the benefit of playing World Cup qualifying matches which will have otherwise increased their rankings to that of Saudi Arabia's.

The list is as below with rank in the world coming first:
