Four Foreign Coaches Offered to FAI

The question on who's going to be the next Indonesian national team head coach is getting hotter every day. Some names have been submitted, both local and foreign, and now there are at least four more foreign names added into the ballot.

Brazil-based sports agency, Al Groon Sports Management, nominate Brazilian Jose Roberto Fernandez, Yugoslavian Timotije Davidovic, Belgian Joroges Hylem, and another Brazilian Lori Sandri.

Especially for Jose Roberto Fernandez, Al Groon offers a package that includes a fitness coach, Brazilian Helio de Almeida. At the moment, Fernandez is managing Al-Etta FC, a club from Damman, Saudi Arabia. His previous experience includes coaching Al-'Ahl in Dubai, UAE. For this package, the sports agency starts the price at U$ 10,000 (about Rp. 96M) for Fernandez and U$ 4,000 (about Rp. 38.4M) for Almeida.

And that's not all. "They also want other facilities, such as housing and cars," said Eddi Elison, FAI's public liaison officer.

Because of that, even though the price tag is still negotiable, FAI (Football Association of Indonesia) is not too interested. Besides, looking from the clubs that Fernandez has managed and his curriculum vitae, he's not too outstanding.

What seems more impressive is actually the Yugoslavian, Timotije Davidovic. Besides having been an instructor for Yugoslavian Olympic Team, he was also picked as 1999 Yugoslavian Coach of the Year by a well-known Yugoslavian daily sports newspaper, Sports Journal.

According to Eddy, these offers will be discussed in FAI Officers' Daily Meeting this week.

Besides those four names, there are also two foreign coaches in Indonesian League who are nominated for head coach position of the Red and White Squad. They are PSM Makassar's technical director, Henk Wullems (Holland), and Pupuk Kaltim's head coach, Sergei Dubrovin (Moldova).
