Troussier and Jubilo reach compromise Japan coach Philippe Troussier announced his 22-man squad for his side's friendly match against France on March 24 and avoided a major confrontation with Asian Club Championship quarter-finalists Jubilo Iwata. Troussier picked just three players from the 1999 Asian Club Champions, whose participation in the eastern quarter-finals of this year's competition, in Makassar, Indonesia from March 21 to 25, clashed with the World Cup co-hosts' friendly plans. The Frenchman has called up Asian Cup Most Valuable Player Hiroshi Nanami, defender Toshihiro Hattori and highly-rated striker Naohiro Takahara, leaving veteran forward Masashi Nakayama, midfielders Toshiya Fujita and Daisuke Oku and defender Hideto Suzuki free to compete in the quarter-finals. Jubilo are aiming to qualify for the semi-finals for the third year in a row and will face Suwon Bluewings, Shandong Luneng and hosts PSM Makassar. from: AFC Website
