Big groups coming from East Asia

According to Football Association of Indonesia (FAI) Public Relations Officer Eddy Ellison, the three teams that will visit Makassar for the 2000/2001 Asian Champions Cup will arrive around or even before March 18, 2001.

Suwon Samsung Blue Wings of South Korea will bring 42 people, though only 29 of them are players. Included in the squad are their foreign legionnaires: Russian Denis Laktionov, Brazilian Sandro Cardoso dos Santos, and Yugoslav Zoltan Sabo.

Jubilo Iwata of Japan, meanwhile, will bring 52 people in the contingent, though only 29 of them are players.

Chinese league champions Shandong Luneng will bring 46 people: 24 players, 7 reporters and correspondents, and the rest are miscellaneous.

Shandong Luneng is probably the only team in the tournament that will feature the most number of foreign players. Coached by Russian Boris Ignatiev, the team is comprised of South Americans Jose Oscar Herrera Corominas, Gabriel Rafael Mendoze Ibarra, Devalle Ruiz Casiano Wilberto, and European Serhii Nahorniak.

PSM Makassar themselves boost at least two foreign players: playmaker Carlos de Mello of Brazil, hitman Fouda Ntsama of Cameroon.

PSM are currently in negotiations with Persita Tangerang to loan their defender Olinga 'Kopa' Atangana of Cameroon, as well as with Persija Jakarta to loan their ace midfielder Imran Nahumarury. Imran is a 21-year-oldyoungster who's not only highly-rated, but also features prominently in the Indonesian national team.
